England fullback Ben Foden wants to have a crack at representing Team GB at Rio 2016.

Foden, 30, has won 34 caps for England in the XV form of the game but has also played for his country at Sevens. He represented England on the World Sevens Series circuit between 2006 and 2008 and would welcome the opportunity to run out again in the short form of the game.

Simon Amor is the man charged with coaching Team GB in the summer's Olympics but unlike their rivals, they have not yet turned to well-known XVs players to bolster their chances of a gold medal.

"I would grab it with both hands," Foden told The Rugby Paper. "I watched the Sevens the other week and saw Bryan Habana, Quade Cooper, Liam Messam and Sonny Bill Williams going back and I absolutely loved my time in Sevens when I was there.

"I'd probably have to consider a position change in the front-row, but if asked I'd definitely give it a crack and I'd enjoy the challenge.

"As well as England have done in the past couple of years, when you go into these big competitions and see nations bringing in ringers, you've got to look at bringing in some experience from the 15-a-side game.

"You've got to look at the likes of Christian Wade. Get someone like him on a Sevens pitch and he's going to cause people problems. Guys like him should definitely be considered and I'd love to put my hands up for the Olympics as well."
