Clermont Auvergne cemented their spot at the summit of the Top 14 as Racing 92 and Montpellier both lost on the road.
Clermont won 16-10 at Pau thanks to tries from Nick Abendanon and Noa Nakaitaci with Morgan Parra slotting two penalties. Colin Slade kept Pau in the game with two kicks from the tee while Watisoni Votu scored for the hosts.
But Racing 92 were on the wrong end of a 33-27 defeat at Brive. Gaetan Germain put in a typically assured performance from the tee scoring 18 points while Guillaume Namy, Johan Snyman and Sisi Koyamaibole crossed for tries. Camille Chat and a double from Marc Andreu kept Racing in the race but they finished second best.
And La Rochelle outscored second-place Montpellier four tries to one for a 36-10 victory at home with Zeno Kieft, Ricky Januarie, Leandro Cedaro and Gabriel Lacroix scoring.
Elsewhere, Stade Francais ran in 10 tries to hammer Oyonnax 69-8 with Waisea Nayacalevu and Hugh Pyle both grabbing braces.
On Friday, Bordeaux Begles won 20-14 at Grenoble with Adam Ashley-Cooper and Sofiane Guitoune both scoring.
