Argentina Sevens call on Juan Imhoff

Racing 92 star Juan Imhoff has joined up with the Argentina Sevens squad ahead of this weekend's tournament at Twickenham, the final leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series.

Imhoff, who has 35 caps for the Argentina 15s side, started in Racing 92's Champions Cup final defeat to Saracens last Saturday and has been permitted by his Top 14 club side to feature in this weekend's tournament as he chases a spot in the squad for Rio 2016.

He is regarded as one of the world's finest finishers and has prior experience of Sevens having featured for the Argentina Sevens side in 2009 and 2010.

Imhoff has long been on Argentina Sevens' radar as ESPN revealed in April.

"Juan's willingness to join us saw him deal with his club over the last few months; for different reasons he wasn't able to come and play for us until now," said Argentina Sevens coach Santiago Gómez Cora. "He wanted to play the European final and then join us, so he is fulfilling part of his dream and we are delighted.

"He is a wing and probably will play there, but we will work with him over the next few days and we'll see where he best fits the team. Players that can play in more than one specific position are always welcomed in sevens."
