Edinburgh to leave Murrayfield for Myreside

Sam Hidalgo-Clyne and his club side Edinburgh will have a new home next season.

Edinburgh will play home matches away from Murrayfield and at Myreside in the latter half of next season.

The Scottish Guinness PRO12 side hope to move to George Watson's College's ground on a full-time basis for the 2017-18 campaign and will play there from January to May next term.

Edinburgh have played there in the past and the club will play an active part in developing the ground and surrounding facilities.

"This is a hugely positive step for Edinburgh Rugby and we are delighted at the opportunity to play our home matches at Myreside," Edinburgh managing director Jonny Petrie said. "This is about building a strong future for the club at a home ground in the city that better suits our needs and improves the matchday experience for fans and players alike.

"I'd like to thank George Watson's College for proposing the idea and for their support in working with us to develop the concept into a credible plan.

"We will now be liaising closely with all relevant parties to ensure a smooth transition over the coming months."

Watsonians FC currently play there and their president Keith Watters says they are looking forward to working alongside Edinburgh and George Watson's College to "bring professional rugby to Myreside once again".
