New England Patriots safety Nate Ebner will not be participating at the London leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series this weekend and will instead be playing for USA's second-choice side in the Howard Hilton Sevens in France.
Ebner, who has taken a leave of absence from the Patriots to pursue his dream of playing rugby at Rio 2016, played for the USA side in both the Singapore and Paris legs of the Sevens Series but will be at Stade de la Vallée de Cher May this weekend while his Eagles teammates are participating at Twickenham.
The decision was made to ensure Ebner's time on the pitch is maximised and he will be used in both the forwards and backs in the USA Falcons team for the tournament in France.
Ebner has progressed well since making the switch back in March from NFL to rugby and will hope to impress this weekend. His place in the USA squad for the final leg of the World Sevens Series at Twickenham has been taken by Ben Leatigaga while there is no place for speedster Carlin Isles.
