Toulon defeat Montpellier

Leigh Halfpenny kicked 13 points to help Toulon secure a comfortable 28-6 victory over Montpellier Herault.

Mamuka Gorgodze scored before the break for Toulon, who pulled further clear after the interval through tries from Josua Tuisova and Liam Gill. Halfpenny notched three penalties and two conversions across the match. The only points Montpellier could manage came through two penalties from Ben Botica.

The result lifts Toulon to fifth in the table, behind Montpellier only on points difference, both teams having won four matches from seven so far this season.

A brace of tries from Antoine Burban helped Stade Francais secure a 31-26 victory over La Rochelle. Two tries from Barban helped the home side lead 14-9 at the interval.

An entertaining second-half saw Stade Francais claim two penalty tries, whilst Arthur Reiere and Jeremie Maurouard both scored late on for the visitors. Julien Dupuy kicked 11 points across the match for the hosts, whilst Brock James notched 16 with the boot for the visitors.
